Our primary business is to be a physical staffed address location open 6 days a week from 8AM-6PM Monday-Friday and 9AM-5PM on Saturday to receive packages for you containing goods you ordered during your online shopping on US websites (you directly shop and pay for goods on any US merchantfs website, and use our US mailing address as the delivery address during checkout\ the merchant will send the package to us). XBShip.com has two buildings for package receiving and forwarding located on the West Coast of the United States. Our small package receiving and forwarding hub in the San Francisco Bay Area of California has been recognized for quality and has been family owned and operated by the same family for the past ten years.
More than half of the packages we receive for our customers are from the Amazon US website (not just books, but also a wide variety of products including electronics, hobby items, other hard to find products) and eBay (US sellers from whom express courier shipping is not typically available or not easy to arrange and very costly). The other reason our customers ship their purchases from the Amazon US website to us is that even if Amazon does ship the particular product internationally, the shipping time can be as long as 3 weeks, whereas we can ship by express courier in 2-3 days tracked and often for about a similar international shipping price. The remaining half of the packages we receive from our customers are mostly apparel from top branded websites such as Gap, Baby Gap, Banana Republic, Victoriafs Secret, Yoga-wear sites, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, etc. Many customers buy products and product styles on US websites because it is either not available in their home country or they can buy it at a significantly lower sales price on a US website than the same product costs in their home country. For US merchants that have local sites in other countries, we have also observed that often the prices they charge on their international websites are higher than the price they charge for the same product on the US website. Additionally, US merchant websites have far more discount promo codes, clearance sales, and short time flash sales than exist on sites outside the US. Often at US websites, the product can be found on sale and purchased for only 20% to 50% of the cost of the same product purchased outside the US. Innovative flash sale websites such as Gilt.com, RueLaLa, and Woot, do not exist outside the US and provide such tremendous value to our customers as they obtain high value, top branded, excess products direct from manufacturers and blow them out in a 2 or 3 hour sale at ridiculously low prices on their website. Woot even sells some items essentially for free (for example, saw a $30 blue tooth wireless cell phone headset selling for $5 comes with a $5 manufacturers rebate coupon and US domestic shipping was low).
We then inspect the items for restricted imports/exports and then notify our customers by email that the package is received for them and they can log into our website to review and pay the fee to ship all their packages together as a consolidated shipment. Once paid, an express courier (e.g., FedEx, DHL, UPS) picks it up and gets it to your home country in 2-3 days by express air, with tracking number and insurance.
Our service is best used by ordering at least three or more higher value products in total from two or more merchants with a total product value of $200 - $300 or more. In this case the packages received can be consolidated and shipped together under one total weight which enables you to get the lower cost per pound rate (as the shipment gets heavier). This tends to result in a lower and reasonable express shipping cost compared to the product value (please see our Cost Calculator for more on recommended things to buy and best ways to use the service).
